  • Yes, Atrium shares are eligible for dividend reinvestment through our Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRIP). This provides shareholders with an easy way to realize the benefits of compound growth of their investment in Atrium.

Enrollment is available to Canadian residents and can be facilitated by contacting your investment advisor or brokerage directly. Once enrolled, dividends are reinvested automatically on each dividend payment date, which occurs monthly.

  • Atrium is structured as a Mortgage Investment Corporation (MIC) under the Canadian Income Tax Act.

As a MIC, Atrium is exempt from paying corporate income tax on the condition that it distributes all of its taxable income to shareholders within 90 days of its fiscal year-end.

As a result, distributions paid to shareholders, including regular monthly payments and any year-end special dividends, are generally considered interest income, not eligible dividends.

This means they are treated as ordinary income, taxed at your marginal tax rate rather than qualifying for the Canadian eligible dividend tax credit.

  • Atrium has a long 23 year track record of paying consistent dividends to shareholders. While we cannot guarantee future returns, our objective is to deliver stable income through a conservative and diversified mortgage portfolio.

Dividends are currently paid monthly, typically around the 12th business day of each month, and are based on the company’s earnings and performance.

In recent years, our annual dividend has totaled $0.93 per share, with additional year-end special dividends declared each year since Atrium went public on the TSX in 2012.
